Weekly Organic & AI Search Update

UK Flooring Direct

Week of 15 to 21 June 2026  ·  vs. previous week & same week last year
Clicks dipped, but rankings and AI presence strengthened

The headline

Organic clicks dipped about 10% week on week to 5,324 (down 22% year on year), but the underlying picture strengthened: tracked rankings improved, with keywords in the top 10 rising from 137 to 146, and average Google position remains well up year on year (19.1 to 12.6). So the weekly dip is not coming from weaker rankings.

What is behind the year-on-year change
The year-on-year decline is in click volume, not in ranking strength. Average Google position improved markedly over the year, from 19.1 to 12.6, and tracked keyword rankings are strong, with 146 of 204 keywords in the top 10. What is driving the lower click volume, such as overall search demand or AI Overviews answering more on the page, sits outside what this weekly report measures. Week on week, clicks dipped about 10% even as tracked rankings rose, so the dip is not from lost rankings.

Rankings strengthened across every band
Keywords in the top 10 rose from 137 to 146 and Top 10% coverage from 67% to 71.6%, with the top 5 holding at 101. Note this tracks the 204 focus keywords. The site-wide average position in the table above, which spans every query the site appears for, slipped slightly over the same week, so the two measures moved differently this week.

A note on reading the AI figures
AI visibility and traffic can swing a lot from week to week across the focus prompt set, so the weekly numbers are best read as directional. The monthly report gives a more reliable picture of the underlying AI trend.

AI Overview link presence, weekly trend

Link presence in Google AI Overviews, the platform driving the most AI traffic. Tracking began mid-April. After peaking at 60% in mid-May it has settled around 23.5%, flat for the last two weeks.

AI presence recovered on several fronts
ChatGPT returned after a blank week, with link presence at 12.5% and mentions at 10.5%, and AI Overview mentions rose to 52.9%. AI Overview link presence held flat at 23.5%, steady for two weeks after easing from the mid-May peak. AI Mode mentions eased to 36.8%, and Gemini was unchanged. As the note above says, these readings move sharply week to week, so the direction over several weeks matters more than any single one.

What shifted the dial

  • Clicks dipped about 10% week on week to 5,324 (down 22% year on year), but tracked rankings rose over the same week, so the dip is not from lost rankings.
  • Rankings strengthened: keywords in the top 10 rose from 137 to 146 and Top 10% coverage from 67% to 71.6%, with the top 5 steady at 101. Average position is well up year on year (19.1 to 12.6).
  • AI presence recovered: ChatGPT returned after a blank week and AI Overview mentions rose to 53%. Weekly AI figures stay volatile, so the monthly view is more reliable.
  • AI traffic grew: 186 sessions from AI tools this week (GA4), up 17% on the week and nearly 5x on the year, led by ChatGPT. A small but fast-growing channel.
